The TPC of Scottsdale Stadium is home of the PGA Tour Phoenix Open.
The TPC of Scottsdale Stadium Course is managed by PGA TOUR Golf Course
Properties Inc., the Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale is a resort/daily-fee
operation in the prestigious network of Tournament Players Clubs.
Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed the Tournament Players Club
of Scottsdale expressly to test the mettle of highly skilled PGA TOUR
professionals during the FBR Open -- a phenomenon on the Tour circuit
that routinely boasts record-shattering attendance of nearly a half-million
spectators each January. The course features championship playing
conditions and the trademark spectator mounding that guarantees everyone
an excellent, unobstructed view of the tournament action. Closely
aligned with the Scottsdale Princess Resort, the Tournament Players
Club of Scottsdale offers guests a "Tour Player for the Day"
experience, with attentive guest services and a challenging golf course.
Closely aligned with the Scottsdale Princess Resort, the Tournament
Players Club of Scottsdale offers guests a "Tour Player for the
Day" experience, with attentive guest services and a challenging
golf course. The big thrill is to discover firsthand how the FBR Open
is usually determined on the final four-hole stretch that includes
the island green at the par-5 Number 15 and the drivable par-4 Number
17. In an innovative land-lease agreement, the City of Scottsdale
also provided the Desert Course adjacent to the Stadium Course, complete
with its own golf shop and patio grill. With green fees commensurate
with those of most municipal facilities, the Desert Course is a fairly
level cruise through natural terrain and lush desert landscaping.
The greens are larger and there are fewer bunkers. As testimony to
its effort to preserve and improve upon the desert setting, the Tournament
Players Club of Scottsdale was among the first golf courses across
the country to become a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
This past year, 11 acres of desert transition areas were re-landscaped
to further reflect the natural surroundings and to challenge recoveries
from wayward shots. Recently remodeled, the elegance of the clubhouse
is remindful of an older private club. For 11 years running, the golf
shop has been recognized as one of America's 100 Best Golf Shops by
Golf Shop Operations. An item or two from the fashionable inventory
of PGA TOUR logo apparel and merchandise make an exemplary golf experience
even more memorable.
For the past six years, Desert Mountain members have
anxiously awaited the arrival of spring – but not necessarily
for the warmer weather the season brings. Spring at Desert Mountain
means it's time for the club's annual golf festival, the largest of
its kind in the United States .Conceived nearly seven years ago by
the Desert Mountain staff, the early May event began as a way to offer
members the latest in equipment while enhancing the club's revenue
streams. It has quickly grown to be the largest such event in the
country. A typical festival can net gross sales of $250,000 to $300,000,
said Bob Jones, Desert Mountain 's senior vice president for Club
Operations. For one day, the club's members mingle with the largest
manufacturers in the industry, testing clubs, placing custom orders
and perusing the latest in golf apparel and accessories. Every major
golf club manufacturer is represented during the festival, with manufacturers'
tech vans on site to modify and create custom clubs for the membership.
Sprinkled in among the shopping and demonstrations are vendor-sponsored
raffle prizes and special guests.
This year, an outdoor putting green was one of the many items given
away while long distance driving champion Brian Pavlet entertained
the crowd. With more Jack Nicklaus Signature courses than anywhere
else in the world, Desert Mountain has been the private club industry
leader for some time.Desert Mountain 's inclusion on Golf World Business
magazine's list of “Top 100 Golf Shops of All Time” is
evidence of just how good the club is at keeping its members happy.
Desert Mountain is recognized as the industry leader in private golf.
From the challenging Outlaw golf course, situated on a 176-acre site
that gently rolls along the border of the Tonto National Forest ,
to the dramatic Chiricahua, positioned high in the foothills of the
Continental Mountains , the 8,000-acre community offers its members
a golf experience second to none.
