The best of the best in Hawaii golf will make their way to the Hawaii Prince Golf Club on the sunny Ewa Plains of Oahu to compete in the 2007 Prince Resorts Hawaii / TaylorMade Hawaii State Open. From Thursday, November 15, to Sunday, November 18, golfers from around the state will participate in Hawaii's premier local golfing event. One talented professional golfer will take home $7,500. This year's combined purse is set at $60,000.

The Charity Pro-Am event is set for Thursday, November 15th. This is the second year the Pro-Am is being run as a charity event and it will benefit the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA) and the Aloha Section PGA Foundation. There will be a professional purse for the Pro-Am as well as many fabulous prizes for the amateurs from TaylorMade.

The tournament proper on November 16th - 18th, is expected to feature top local professionals such as defending champion Tom Eubank as well as other top local pros David Ishii, Kevin Carll and John Lynch in the championship field. Also playing are some of the top amateurs in the state like Brandan Kop, Henry Park and Bradley Shigezawa. Top senior professionals will include the defending champion Leland Lindsay, seven time senior champion Dean Prince and 2006 Senior Player of the Year Ron Kiaaina Jr.

Traditionally Hawaii's last tournament of the year, the Hawaii State Open also is one of Hawaii's oldest tournaments. The Hawaii State Open was launched in 1974 as a revival of the original Hawaiian Open, which became the stop for the PGA Tour in 1965, held at the Waialae Country Club. The Hawaiian Open began in the 1920s and was a fitting championship that determined the best golfer in the Islands. Many great players from the mainland were invited to compete and did so for more than 30 years.
